UK Play day - what are you doing for it?

Today is UK Play Day

Playday occurs every year held to celebrate the importance of Play in children’s lives.

On Playday thousands of children across the UK can get involved in their local community events, be it at their local park or community centre, or you can even set up your own playday to get their community involved.

But what about as adults, do you have a play day?

It's important for your stress levels that you do something regularly for fun, whether it's to be creative, develop yourself, learn a new skill or blow off steam, it's important to do something that you love.

When you do something that you love, you become so engrossed in it that your brain goes into a soporific state, almost like meditating which benefits your body, mind and soul.

Many people find that taking up a hobby that they love was because they needed something to relieve the stress and this continues to be the case. Having fun, doing something that you love builds your resilience towards stress. The more you do something, the more resilient you become. Having fun with others increases your connections which strengthens relationships and builds your support network.

Today is playday which gets children involved in their community, why don't you take some time out today for you. Leave the chores, the daily grind behind and go out and play.
